makiko miyamoto is an artist who creates uniquely evocative environments that alter the audience experience of the space and objects within it. her competition-winning installations are presented both in art venues and in unexpected public spaces. her innovative ideas and creative approach allow her to transcend the border of art and design, involving her in architectural and interior design, corporate branding and a variety of other creative efforts. she received a ba in product/craft design at the musashino art university in tokyo and an mfa with full scholarship from the state university of new york at stony brook. she has been based in new york since 1997.
